About Us

Honey & Pearl started in our home kitchen in 2016 and has grown into a cult-favorite bakery known for selling out pre-orders a month in advance when we operated in San Jose. After a two year hiatus, we secured a private baking studio in Emeryville. We blend Southern American, Latin, and Asian influences into nostalgic desserts that celebrate our Mexican and Korean/Black American heritage. Our monthly menu features a rotating list of desserts along with our tried and true staples like Guava Chiffon Cake and Cookie Butter Brownie Bar. Our philosophy is simple: quality, love, care, and service in every bite, with a commitment to supporting local nonprofits because we believe great desserts and community impact go hand in hand.

Tam

I’ve been in love with baking since I was a youth and started in the food industry as a line cook in 1996. My passion for baking led me to graduate from CIA St. Helena’s Baking & Pastry program in 1999. After two decades in foodservice and earning a degree from Mills College, I launched Honey & Pearl to share the joy I find in expressing love through food. The best reward is seeing customers’ faces light up when they taste something that reminds them of home or introduces them to flavors they’ve never experienced before.

Vinnie

I’ve been part of the SF DJ scene since 1995, and I never expected to fall into the dessert world until I started dating my now-wife Tam. 30 years of running a DJ business taught me everything I needed to know and I bring the same energy to Honey & Pearl that I’ve always brought to the turntables: connecting with people and making sure everyone has an unforgettable experience.
